Web Design & Custom Software for Chicago Businesses

Chicago is one of the most competitive markets in the country—agencies on every block, a design bar set sky-high, and customers who've seen it all. I build custom websites, web apps, and automation that hold up against that, at flat published pricing with no monthly bills. I'll be upfront: I'm based in Indianapolis and work with Chicago businesses remotely—senior work, none of the big-agency overhead.

Building for Chicago

A market that doesn't hand out attention for free

Chicago is enormous, and it's loud. From the towers of the Loop to the restaurants and startups packed into West Loop and Fulton Market, the shops along Wicker Park and Damen, the brownstones of Lincoln Park, and dozens of distinct neighborhoods with their own character—plus the whole sprawl of Chicagoland suburbs ringing the city—every industry is represented here, several times over. The design bar is high because it has to be. A site that looks like a stock template doesn't just underperform; it disappears.

That competitive crush is actually the opening for a smaller business. A custom, genuinely fast site—with real booking, quote requests, and lead capture wired in—is how you stand out against both the agencies charging by the hour and the neighbor running the same Squarespace theme as everyone else. For a clinic in Lincoln Park, a contractor in the suburbs, a shop in Wicker Park, or a services firm downtown, the website is often the entire first impression.

Here's the honest part: I'm not a Chicago agency. I'm an Indianapolis-based developer who works with Chicago businesses remotely, and that's the whole pitch—senior, hands-on work at flat pricing, minus the downtown overhead. Most of the build runs on calls, email, and shared screens. And if an in-person kickoff matters, Chicago is about three hours up the road.

Why It Matters Here

What Wins Customers in Chicago

In a market this crowded, the businesses that win online are the ones that look sharp, load fast, and make it easy to act—not the ones with the biggest ad budget.

Standing Out Against Everyone

You're up against agencies and templates alike. A custom, design-forward site is the cleanest way to look like the obvious choice instead of one of fifty.

Speed That Actually Converts

Chicago customers bounce fast. A site that loads instantly on a phone on the train keeps the people your competitors are losing to a spinner.

Booking & Lead Capture

People decide at 10pm from the couch. Online scheduling and quote forms catch that intent instead of letting it cool off in a voicemail queue.

Software, Not Just a Site

When a form isn't enough, I build the web app or automation that kills the manual busywork your team does by hand every day.

What I Build

From a Sharp Website to Custom Software

One developer who learns how your Chicago business runs, then builds the thing that removes the friction—and sticks around to support it.

Custom Websites

Fast, mobile-first, custom-designed sites built around your brand—not a recycled template.

Web Apps & Custom Software

Internal tools, dashboards, and customer-facing apps built around how you actually work.

Online Booking & Lead Capture

Instant-quote and scheduling flows that turn visitors into booked jobs, day or night.

Integrations & Automation

Connect the tools you already use and automate the manual steps eating your team's time.

Local SEO Foundations

Chicago-focused titles, meta tags, and service pages so you show up for "near me" searches.

Hosting & Ongoing Support

Managed hosting, SSL, backups, and a real person to call when you need a change.

See It For Yourself

Real, Clickable Demos

Instead of a portfolio of screenshots, I build working concept sites you can actually use—instant-price booking, online stores, custom dashboards. Explore them and picture your Chicago business in their place.

Common Questions

Chicago Web Design FAQ

Do you work with Chicago businesses in person or remotely?

Remote-first, and I'd rather be straight about it: I'm based in Indianapolis, not the Loop, so this isn't a local Chicago agency. The work runs on calls, email, and shared screens, which is how most good web projects run anyway. If an in-person kickoff genuinely matters, Chicago is about three hours up I-65 and I can come to you.

Why hire an Indianapolis studio for a Chicago business?

Because you get senior work at flat, sane pricing without paying for a downtown Chicago agency's overhead—the account managers, the office, the markup. It's one experienced developer building your site or software directly. The internet doesn't care which side of the Indiana line your developer sits on; your customers care whether the site is fast, sharp, and works.

How much does a website cost for a Chicago business?

Pricing is flat and published: a Starter site is $2,900 and a Business site is $4,900, with your first year of hosting and support included—no monthly bills. After year one it renews once a year at the same flat price, and you keep your code if you ever leave. Full details are on my website design page.

Can you build more than a website—like booking or a custom tool?

Yes. Beyond websites I build web apps, online booking and lead-capture flows, integrations, and custom internal software. InspectKit, a SaaS used by field inspectors every day, is one I built end to end.
